Frischknecht Timber Construction & Benetics: Keeping Tasks Under Control

- Industry: Timber Construction
- Employees: approx. 60
- Location: Kloten, Switzerland
The challenge: Digital in the office – but on-site?
A lot in the office has been digital for years. The key question was: How can information be exchanged more easily and reliably between the office and the construction site?

“We were looking for a solution that works just as well out on-site as it does at the desk – a digital bridge between two worlds,” says Nico Fritzmann, member of the management team. As site manager, he knows the daily challenges well: “It’s often the small details that make a big difference. Especially on large projects, you need clear documentation and tracking.” Because when things stall on-site, everyone feels it – from the workers to the client. And that’s bad for business.
Benefits for everyone on the team
A real-world example shows just how big the impact can be: For the KIBAKO project in Kloten, over 100 tasks had to be tracked – from small adjustments to critical safety fixings. On a large site, that’s nothing unusual.
In the past, this meant Excel sheets, handwritten notes on plans, photos on phones – and constant back-and-forth. Today, things look very different. “I walk across the site, record the task with a photo directly on my phone – usually using the voice assistant. In 30 seconds, the task is properly documented. Before, that would’ve easily taken five minutes.”
The result: over seven hours saved – just for Nico. And the team immediately sees what needs doing – saving even more time and hassle. All the info is clear, up to date, and captured right where it’s needed.
The three biggest benefits of Benetics
- Save time on-site: Tasks are recorded directly where they happen – no rework later.
- Clarity for everyone: All details are complete, clear, and accessible anytime – even during handovers, absences, or team changes.
- Easy to use: “After two days, everyone was up to speed,” says Nico. Even older team members found the app intuitive right away.
Real-world example: Keeping track of finishing tasks
A daily scenario: A wall has been prepped so the plumber can install a pipe. The vapor barrier has already been pierced – but before the wall is closed, the installation must be completed and the opening properly sealed.
In the past, Nico would have kept track mentally or scribbled a note. Today, he logs it directly in Benetics with a photo and comment: “Plumber work pending.”
The task stays in the system, can be scheduled, updated, or reassigned as needed. “That way, nothing falls through the cracks – and we avoid extra questions and unnecessary site checks.”
Conclusion: More than just cost-benefit
For Nico, it’s not just about saving time. “Sure, Benetics saves us hours. But above all, it brings structure and clarity. And in the end, that means better quality.”
